The State of Kuwait expressed hope on Tuesday that the ministerial-level preparatory meeting of the Economic and Social Council for the Fifth Arab Developmental Summit would yield appropriate draft resolutions to enhance Arab developmental efforts at all levels.
Head of the Kuwaiti delegation to the meeting, Talal Al-Namsh, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Economic Affairs at the Ministry of Finance, told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the meeting reviewed draft resolutions to be submitted to the Fifth Arab Developmental Summit (Economic and Social) scheduled for next Saturday.
He explained that the Council discussed various topics related to joint Arab economic and social work, foremost among them the report of the Secretary-General of the Arab League on joint Arab economic and social developmental efforts, as well as a report on the follow-up to the implementation of resolutions from the Fourth Arab Developmental Summit (Economic and Social) held in Lebanon in 2019.
Al-Namsh added that the Council also reviewed progress in completing the requirements for establishing the Greater Arab Free Trade Area and the Arab Customs Union, as well as the Mauritanian President’s initiative on the "Blue Economy" as a means to address food and energy challenges, and the Arab League Secretary-General’s initiative, the "Arab Artificial Intelligence Initiative: Towards Technological Leadership and Sustainable Development."
He noted that the Council also examined the Arab Strategy for Food Security (2025–2035), the updated Arab Water Security Strategy Executive Plan to address future sustainable development challenges (2030), a declaration of principles on the future of human resources in light of the technological revolution, the updated Arab Strategy for Workforce Development and Employment, and the Arab Vision (2045) on achieving hope through thought, management, and action.
The preparatory meeting, chaired by Iraqi Minister of Commerce Atheer Al-Ghurairi, is discussing the outcomes of the senior officials' meeting of the Economic and Social Council held on Monday. It will, in turn, prepare draft resolutions to be presented at the upcoming Developmental Summit scheduled for next Saturday.
