U.S. President: We Are Close to Reaching a Deal with Iran..

Speaking at a meeting with Qatari and American business leaders in Doha, Trump said, "We want to succeed in negotiations with Iran, and I believe we are close to reaching an agreement."

He added that he wants Iran to be a "great nation" but emphasized that it "cannot possess nuclear weapons," stating firmly, "Tehran must not have nuclear arms."

Trump noted that Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani is "working hard" to prevent military strikes against Iran, remarking, "The Iranians should thank the Qatari Emir for this... Others want us to strike Iran harshly, unlike Qatar."

He expressed gratitude to the Emir of Qatar, highlighting their investment cooperation: "We can collaborate for mutual benefit—the Qatari Emir has done so much for us."

Regarding Syria, Trump mentioned meeting former Syrian President Ahmad al-Shara in Riyadh the previous day, adding, "We’ll see what happens after sanctions on Syria are lifted."

On the Russia-Ukraine war, Trump stressed the importance of continued negotiations: "It will be tough today and tomorrow. If something happens, I’ll go to Turkey on Friday—they are still negotiating now." He expressed hope that Russia and Ukraine would "take action because this conflict must end."

The U.S. President arrived in Doha on Wednesday as part of an official Gulf tour that also includes Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
