The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) failed to place an Earth observation satellite into orbit following its launch on Sunday.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) minutes after the liftoff of the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV), which was carrying the Earth observation satellite, ISRO Chairman S. Somanath stated:
*"Today’s launch attempt, mission number 101, saw normal performance of the PSLV-C61 rocket up to the second stage. However, due to a technical anomaly in the third stage, the mission was not successful."*
The rocket was launched at 6:00 AM from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre on Sriharikota Island, off the coast of Andhra Pradesh.
