The Public Authority for Workforce announced on Saturday that starting tomorrow, Sunday, it will begin implementing the decision to ban work in open areas from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM daily until the end of August.
In a statement, the Authority quoted its Acting Director Marzouq Al-Otaibi as saying that inspection teams will monitor the implementation of Administrative Decision No. (535/2015) regarding the three-month summer work ban in open areas. The teams will conduct surprise inspection campaigns at worksites to detect any violations, record them, and take legal action against violators.
The statement explained that the decision aims to protect workers from extreme heat during this period, noting that working in these areas during this time of year is difficult due to harsh climatic conditions that make it challenging to perform work during regular hours.
It clarified that implementing the work ban during these hours is intended to regulate work rather than reduce working hours, while ensuring that ongoing projects are not adversely affected.
Al-Otaibi stated in the announcement that the implementation of this decision in previous years has been well-received by numerous companies across various sectors. He added that the decision serves the public interest and aligns with Kuwait's commitments to implement international labor standards during midday hours.
He explained that enforcing the decision requires employers to ensure the health and safety of all their workers while complying with labor laws and regulations. Violations of the midday work ban can be reported by calling 24936192, where complaints will be addressed and necessary actions taken by the relevant authorities.
