This came in remarks Safadi made to journalists on Friday evening after chairing an extraordinary session of the Arab League Council at the ministerial level on the sidelines of the 51st session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Istanbul. The meeting discussed regional developments, most notably the Israeli occupation's aggression against Iran and its repercussions.
Safadi added, "There is a clear Arab position, which we have affirmed before and reaffirmed today: Immediate action must be taken to stop the aggression, return to negotiations, and reach a political solution to the Iranian nuclear file."
The emergency Arab meeting was held alongside the OIC foreign ministers' gathering in Istanbul, which begins on Saturday and lasts for two days under the chairmanship of Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.*
