The Iraqi government expressed its profound concern and condemnation on Sunday regarding the targeting of Iranian nuclear facilities, stressing that this military escalation poses a serious threat to security and peace in the Middle East and jeopardizes regional stability with grave consequences.

In a statement, the Iraqi government spokesman, Basim Al-Awadi, said, "Iraq rejects the use of force in international relations," calling for respect for state sovereignty and the protection of vital infrastructure, particularly facilities under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and designated for peaceful purposes.

He emphasized that his country believes "military solutions cannot replace dialogue and diplomacy, as the continuation of such attacks could lead to a dangerous escalation with consequences extending beyond any single nation, threatening regional and global stability."

Al-Awadi stressed that "the responsibility of major powers and international organizations should focus on sparing the world further crises, rather than fueling them."

He called for immediate de-escalation and urgent diplomatic channels to contain the situation and defuse tensions in a manner that ensures collective security and upholds international law and the United Nations Charter.

Earlier today, the United States launched a dawn attack on three nuclear sites inside Iran—Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan—marking its first military intervention since the outbreak of the ongoing conflict between the Israeli occupation and Iran.
