Senegal announces the export of 9.63 million barrels of crude oil until last June..

Dakar – The Senegalese Ministry of Energy, Petroleum, and Mines announced on Saturday that the country's total volume of exported and marketed crude oil by the end of the second quarter of this year reached 9.63 million barrels.

In a statement on energy sector statistics, the ministry clarified that the offshore Sangomar field alone exported 2.9 million barrels of crude oil in June 2024.

The statement projected that Senegal’s crude oil production could reach 30.53 million barrels in 2025, maintaining a steady daily output of 100,000 barrels.

Senegal officially joined the club of oil-producing nations in June 2024, marking the start of commercial operations at the Sangomar offshore field, located about 100 kilometers off the coast of Dakar.

In addition to oil, the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) offshore gas field, a joint project with Mauritania, is one of the country’s most significant gas ventures, with estimated reserves of around 100 trillion cubic feet.

In May 2024, the presidents of Senegal and Mauritania attended the inauguration ceremony for liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports from the floating production platform in the shared offshore field between the two nations.
