The U.S. Department of State announced Tuesday that Special Middle East Envoy Steve Wittekopf will travel to Gaza for final negotiations to establish a humanitarian aid corridor.
State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce told reporters: "Like President Trump, the Secretary of State, and our Special Envoy, we all maintain great hope that we can progress toward both renewing a ceasefire and establishing a humanitarian corridor for aid flow into Gaza."
Bruce added that the creation of a humanitarian corridor is something "both parties have already agreed upon," noting that Wittekopf's visit will finalize this agreement. She affirmed that the U.S. President continues to pursue peace in Gaza as "the ultimate goal," adding that Trump has "great hope we can propose a new ceasefire between the parties."
