The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia welcomed on Thursday the announcement by French President Emmanuel Macron of his country's intention to recognize the sisterly State of Palestine.

In a statement, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs praised this historic decision, which reflects the international consensus on the Palestinian people's right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state along the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. The ministry stressed the importance of continued steps by nations to enforce international resolutions and uphold international law.

Additionally, the Kingdom renewed its call for other countries that have not yet recognized Palestine to take similar positive and serious steps in support of peace and the rights of the brotherly Palestinian people.
