According to The Verge, OpenAI is preparing to launch its most anticipated model since ChatGPT, GPT-5, in August. The announcement follows a series of postponements that have been set aside for additional testing of the new model.

What do we know about GPT-5?

So far there is nothing official about the model, but there are statements that enable us to predict a few things. Initially, Sam Altman had stated that he would like to make a free copy of GPT-5 available to everyone on earth: "I care very much about what it means for everyone to have a free copy of GPT-5;

Do we deduce from this that the model is completely free? Not exactly, as it has become clear that OpenAI is no longer the "Open" it used to be, but has become a for-profit company that cares more about money than anything else, contrary to what it promised in its early days. That's what their actions have been saying lately as they withhold important features from the free plan.
