A human beats artificial intelligence in a global programming competition..

Polish programmer Przeslaw Dbiak scored a hard-fought victory over OpenAI at the AtCoder World Tour 2025 in Tokyo this month, winning the title against a strong competition from artificial intelligence.

Dubbiak, known as Psyho in the programming community, believes that the pace of technological progress could make this the last human victory in such competitions.

The competition featured a ten-hour challenge to solve complex algorithm problems, with the participation of 11 world-ranked programmers, and the OpenAI model, which came in second place, 9.5% ahead of the winner. Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, congratulated the winner via X after the results were announced.
