The United States called on the Israeli occupation authorities to open an investigation into the targeted killing of five journalists in the Gaza Strip.
State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce emphasized to reporters at the department's headquarters the necessity of investigating this attack, which killed five journalists working for Al Jazeera network. She added that "President Donald Trump's commitment to ending the war would be a great gift to the entire world."
The five journalists were killed last Sunday when Israeli occupation forces bombed their tent in Gaza City, bringing the total number of journalists killed since the beginning of Israel's war on Gaza to 237.
In a statement, Gaza's Government Media Office identified the victims as Al Jazeera correspondents Anas al-Sharif and Muhammad Quraiqe', photojournalists Ibrahim Zaher and Momen Aliawa, and camera assistant Muhammad Noufal - all killed in the Israeli bombing of their shelter.
