Britain accuses Rapid Support Forces of deliberate and brutal violence against civilians in Sudan..

London, Wednesday – Britain has accused Sudan's Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of engaging in a systematic pattern of deliberate and brutal violence against civilians.

In a statement, British Foreign Secretary David Lammy said the renewed RSF offensive on El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, "is not an isolated incident but a deliberate act against civilians who have fled their homes." He warned of dire consequences from the ongoing siege of El Fasher, where hundreds of thousands of civilians are trapped with "no escape routes, now facing imminent famine and the spread of deadly diseases."

Lammy called on warring parties to uphold their responsibilities toward civilians and honor commitments made at the Jeddah conference, including protecting civilians and ensuring unimpeded humanitarian access. He urged the RSF, Sudanese Armed Forces, and allied armed groups to respond to UN Secretary-General António Guterres' call for an immediate humanitarian truce in El Fasher and surrounding areas.

The UN Security Council had earlier expressed grave concern over reports of renewed RSF attacks on El Fasher.
