Dr. Khaled Al-Mugames, Chairman of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS), affirmed on Monday that humanitarian work represents an enduring value in the Kuwaiti national consciousness and remains fundamental to the state's approach in extending aid globally.
Marking World Humanitarian Day (August 19), Al-Mugames told KUNA: "This occasion honors field workers and volunteers while spotlighting urgent crises and mobilizing international support." He paid tribute to KRCS staff and volunteers who embody solidarity values across humanitarian fronts.
The Chairman emphasized KRCS's commitment to:
✓ Promoting humanitarian principles
✓ Strengthening community awareness of relief work
✓ Maintaining Kuwait's global leadership in humanitarian aid through government and civil society efforts
"Escalating global crises demand redoubled efforts," Al-Mugames noted, highlighting KRCS's rapid response with:
Emergency relief for Palestine, Yemen, Syria, Lebanon, Sudan, and Türkiye
Comprehensive aid packages (food, shelter, medical supplies)
Sustainable development projects for community rehabilitation
In 2023 alone, KRCS has implemented:
◉ 47+ emergency operations
◉ $28 million in humanitarian expenditures
◉ 12 sustainable development initiatives
Al-Mugames concluded: "KRCS will continue its mission anchored in Kuwait's legacy of giving, viewing humanitarian action as both moral duty and transcendent calling beyond political borders."
