The Communications and Information Technology Authority (CITRA) announced the signing of a contract with Integrated Future Technologies for Telecommunications Equipment to implement the Automated Spectrum Monitoring and Analysis System project—a comprehensive national initiative aimed at developing an advanced spectrum monitoring framework in Kuwait.
In a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Monday, CITRA emphasized that "this project aligns with its commitment to continuous spectrum monitoring across all frequency bands, detecting unlicensed usage, precisely locating violations, and identifying harmful interference sources to ensure optimal spectrum utilization in line with international best practices."
The authority added that "the project aims to enhance service quality for end-users through periodic field measurements, advanced analytical indicators, and real-time spectrum monitoring, enabling swift and effective action against unauthorized usage."
CITRA further noted that the initiative will improve regulatory efficiency and licensing compliance to sustain spectrum resources, optimize their use, and establish an integrated control center with fixed/mobile monitoring stations, portable devices, and network quality measurement tools—ensuring nationwide coverage, including residential and border areas, for comprehensive oversight.
The project is expected to strengthen CITRA’s capabilities in monitoring telecom network quality, reducing service disruptions caused by interference and illegal usage, ultimately benefiting both service providers and end-users.
CITRA reiterated its ongoing commitment to advancing Kuwait’s digital infrastructure and enhancing its telecommunications environment in accordance with national strategies and global standards.
