Turkish President discusses with NATO Secretary-General developments in the Russia-Ukraine peace process..

On Tuesday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a telephone conversation with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte to discuss developments in the peace process between Russia and Ukraine.

In a statement, the Turkish Presidency's Directorate of Communications noted that Rutte called Erdoğan while returning from the summit he held with U.S. President Donald Trump and European leaders at the White House.

The statement indicated that the two sides discussed the latest developments regarding ways to end the war and establish peace between Ukraine and Russia.

It added that they addressed Türkiye's pivotal role in the Ukraine peace process and Black Sea security, agreeing on Ankara's contribution to the peace process as one of NATO's most important members and on close coordination.

Regarding the security guarantees planned for Ukraine, the Directorate of Communications noted that Erdoğan and Rutte exchanged views on feasible and sustainable security guarantees.

The White House hosted talks on Monday that brought together President Trump with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. The meeting also included French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
