The U.S. President announces his participation in tonight's security patrols on the streets of Washington..

U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that he intends to join a patrol with the police and the National Guard forces across the capital, Washington, tonight local time, as part of the federal campaign he launched last week to combat crime.

In televised remarks, Trump said, "I think I’ll be going out tonight with the police and the military. So we’ll be doing our job perfectly. The National Guard is fantastic. They’ve done an excellent job."

Meanwhile, an official from the U.S. administration told local media that details of what President Trump will do will be announced soon.

The U.S. administration began last week by augmenting federal law enforcement forces in parts of the area to eliminate what the White House described as an "unacceptable level of crime," despite statistics showing a decline in violent crimes in the capital, Washington.

Trump ordered the deployment of federal police in the capital, Washington, and the deployment of hundreds of National Guard troops to bolster the crime elimination campaign, which has resulted in the arrest of over 600 people, including 251 undocumented immigrants.
