The Philippines calls on the Israeli occupation to respond to the ceasefire proposal in Gaza..

On Monday, the Philippines called on the Israeli occupation to respond to the ceasefire proposal recently presented by Egyptian and Qatari mediators, describing it as an essential step to protect civilians and revive the peace process. The Philippines announced it was joining the international community in its urgent call to end the worsening humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip.

In a statement, the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs expressed deep concern over recent developments, including the Israeli occupation government's plan for a full military takeover of Gaza, the continued restrictions on life-saving humanitarian aid such as food and water, widespread displacement, attacks targeting civilians, and reports of expanding settlements in the West Bank.

The statement warned that "these developments exacerbate the already dire humanitarian situation and diminish the prospects for achieving a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace in the Middle East," emphasizing that responding to the ceasefire proposal is an urgent necessity to revive the peace process.

Last Monday, Hamas received a new proposal from the mediators, Egypt and Qatar, regarding a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. Key provisions include the entry of aid through humanitarian institutions, the Red Crescent, and the United Nations, a 60-day ceasefire, and the release of prisoners from both sides.

Last Tuesday, the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that Hamas had agreed to the new proposal for a ceasefire in Gaza.
