Algeria: The (Timimoun) International Short Film Festival Receives 2,700 Submissions for its First Edition..

The organizing committee of the (Timimoun) International Short Film Festival announced on Tuesday that it has received over 2,700 submissions from filmmakers across Africa and the world to participate in the competition of its first edition, scheduled from November 13 to 18.

In a statement, the festival's committee indicated that this event aims, in its first edition, to provide a distinguished cinematic platform with a unique artistic character, starting from the depths of the Algerian Sahara and steadily heading towards Africa and the world.

The statement added that "the festival, hosted by the state of (Timimoun) in the south of the country, has chosen to highlight African short films, betting on a cinema that combines proximity, awareness, and innovation."

The festival’s competition, which is open to African films, includes categories for narrative, documentary, or animated films. Several conditions have been set for submissions, such as the works must be of African nationality, produced in 2024 or 2025, and have a duration between 10 and 40 minutes.
