Microsoft has announced the availability of Anthropic's Claude Sonnet 4 and Claude Opus 4.1 AI models within the Microsoft 365 Copilot platform, expanding the model options available to users beyond just the OpenAI model suite.

Charles Lamana, Head of Microsoft's Copilot Business & Industry team, said the move gives customers greater flexibility, saying, "Copilot will continue to work on the latest OpenAI models, and now our customers can benefit from Anthropic models as well, both in the Researcher tool and when creating smart agents in Microsoft Copilot Studio.

With this update, Researcher users can easily switch between OpenAI and Claude Opus 4.1, with a new button titled Try Cloud appearing within the Copilot app. The Claude Sonnet 4 and Claude Opus 4.1 models will also be available as additional options in Copilot Studio, allowing businesses to build AI agents capable of deep inference, work automation, and agile task execution.
