Google has started expanding the Gemini experience within the Google Maps app to include the navigation feature on Android and iOS, from previously limited to places pages.

The company describes the experience as an interactive hands-free driving, similar to having a knowledgeable friend by your side that confidently helps you reach your destination.Gemini replaces Google's voice assistant within the navigation experience, with its signature spark icon appearing in the top corner. The user can tap on it or activate the Hey Google voice command to ask questions about the trip, such as nearby dining places, parking availability, or charging stations for electric vehicles on the road.
