At a moment when the global technology sector is witnessing a frantic race towards artificial intelligence and the digital economy, Dubai continues to establish itself as a global platform for the digital solutions industry with the launch of the third edition of the Dubai Plate Challenge, an initiative that has since its launch in 2023 into an open lab for tech talent and innovators in the Arab world and beyond.
Under the direct supervision of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, the initiative is moving confidently towards a clear goal: to transform Dubai into the capital of the global digital economy, and to embody the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to build a technological environment capable of producing solutions, not importing them.
As countries compete to attract tech giants, Dubai is moving towards empowering innovators themselves, through an applied challenge that connects ideas to finance, market and opportunities, and transforms creative energies into real digital products.
Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, one of the three chambers operating under the umbrella of Dubai Chambers, has
launched the third edition of the Create Apps Championship, following a remarkable success in the previous two editions, as the initiative attracted more than 5,800 registration applications and contributed to the development of more than 55 smart apps, some of which reached the physical markets.
This momentum confirms that the initiative has gone beyond being a technology competition to become a strategic platform for talent empowerment, supporting the digital economy ecosystem and redrawing the relationship between innovation and entrepreneurship.
His Excellency Omar Sultan Al Olama, UAE Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, described the initiative as a global initiative that celebrates creativity and innovation, and attracts distinguished minds from different countries of the world, reinforcing Dubai's position as an advanced hub for the development of digital technology and technical innovation.
Empowering Talent and Market Creation:
The third edition of the challenge comes at a watershed moment when the digital application sector is witnessing a global boom that touches every aspect of daily life, from health and education to trade and government services. While digital applications have become a key driver of economic growth, Dubai seeks to localize this growth within its digital ecosystem by enabling local and Arab minds to develop technological solutions that meet realistic needs and compete globally.
The challenge not only attracts innovators, but also provides them with an integrated support package that includes funding, training, accelerator programs, and an incubating work environment that ensures the continuation of projects after the end of the competition.
