The Amazon Echo Show 5, like the rest of Apple's (i.e. Amazon devices), locks within the closed Fire OS ecosystem, limiting its capabilities to a limited set of immature apps and features.
But thanks to a vulnerability discovered by Roger Ortiz, and a custom build from Lineage OS developed by bengris32, it is possible to break the device's limitations and extend its functionality beyond what it was designed for.
Even better, Echo Show users can choose to keep Amazon services, such as Alexa, during the jailbreak process, for a combination of the original system and the added flexibility. However, there is a real risk that the device may crash permanently.
