The ambiguity surrounding the Islamic New Year holiday is causing confusion within the Ministry of Education..

The Civil Service Commission's failure to finalize the date of the Islamic New Year holiday has caused confusion for the Ministry of Education, particularly regarding the schedule for the 12th-grade exams, which are set to begin on Wednesday, the 17th of this month. The lack of a confirmed date, pending the sighting of the new moon of Muharram tomorrow evening, has left both students and the Ministry in a state of anticipation and uncertainty. The new date will determine whether the exams will be postponed to next week if the first of Muharram falls on Wednesday, or held as scheduled if the holiday falls on Tuesday.

Sources confirmed to Al-Jarida newspaper that the uncertainty surrounding the holiday will also disrupt the schedules for the fourth phase of training courses for educational supervisory positions, which are scheduled to continue until next Thursday.

In detail:

While tenth and eleventh grade students conclude their end-of-year exams for the 2025/2026 academic year tomorrow, Monday, with Islamic Education and English, the Ministry of Education faces a dilemma regarding the start of twelfth-grade exams. These exams were scheduled to begin on Wednesday morning, the 17th of this month. However, the lack of clarity surrounding the Civil Service Commission's decision regarding the Islamic New Year holiday may lead to the postponement of exam dates, necessitating a rescheduling and rearrangement of subjects. Furthermore, the holiday decision could also affect the training courses for the fourth phase of promotion to supervisory positions, which are scheduled to begin today and continue until next Thursday.
