The 41st Gulf Handball Championship for Cup Winners Clubs will kick off tomorrow, Saturday, in the Omani capital, Muscat, with the participation of eight clubs, including Kuwait's (Al-Kuwait) Club. The championship will continue until February 24th.
The tournament will be held at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex, where Oman Club (the host of the championship) has completed its preparations to host this important Gulf event. All aspects related to the hosting, including technical matters and meeting all necessary requirements, have been arranged to ensure the championship is showcased in the best possible manner and achieves its intended goals.
The participating teams are divided into two groups. The first group includes clubs (Al-Seeb) from Oman, (Al-Rayyan) from Qatar, (Al-Najma) from Bahrain, and (Al-Noor) from Saudi Arabia. The second group comprises clubs (Oman) from Oman, (Al-Kuwait) from Kuwait, (Dibba Al-Hisn) from the UAE, and (Al-Arabi) from Qatar.
On the first day of the championship, two matches will be held within the second group. The first match will feature (Al-Kuwait) from Kuwait against (Al-Arabi) from Qatar, while the second match will see Oman Club face off against (Dibba Al-Hisn) from the UAE.
The championship will follow a league system, with two matches played each day. The top two teams from each group will advance to the golden square. The tournament will conclude on the 24th of this month with a match to determine the third and fourth places, followed by the final match to crown the champion.
The championship will be officiated by a number of refereeing teams from the participating Gulf countries, including Ahmed Al-Jamaz and Thamer Ashkanani from Kuwait, alongside a refereeing team selected by the International Handball Federation from (Moldova and Montenegro). Additionally, a number of match observers have been appointed, including Kuwaiti Hani Hassan.
