The Ambassador of Kuwait to New Delhi discusses enhancing cultural and educational relations with India..

The Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to New Delhi, Mishal Al-Shamali, met with the Director-General of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Nandini Singla, on Monday to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in the cultural and educational fields. 

Ambassador Al-Shamali stated in a remark to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the discussions focused on expanding areas of cooperation, particularly those related to cultural and educational relations between India and Kuwait. He pointed out that the deep-rooted historical ties between India and Kuwait are built on the distinguished relations that have brought the two countries together in various fields, especially cultural and social ones.

Ambassador Al-Shamali mentioned that the talks addressed the importance of exchanging visits between officials from both countries working in the cultural field to enhance communication and open new cultural and scientific windows. He also emphasized the significance of academic exchanges between scholars and intellectuals from both nations and creating study opportunities for students from both countries.

He also noted that the Kuwaiti Ministry of Information launched a radio program in the Hindi language in April 2024 to meet the needs of the Indian community, which numbers around one million people, and in recognition of Kuwait's awareness of the importance of promoting Indian culture and arts.

For her part, the Indian official expressed the strength of cultural relations between the two countries, especially as they are built on a long history of cultural, social, and educational exchanges. She stressed the importance of enhancing and elevating these relations.

It is worth mentioning that the first agreement in the field of cultural cooperation, education, and training between the State of Kuwait and India was signed in 1970. The cultural cooperation agreement between the two countries was renewed for the period from 2025 to 2029 during the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the State of Kuwait in December 2024.
