Cyberattacks on home smart devices have escalated at an unprecedented rate, increasing by 124% in 2024, according to a recent report by cybersecurity company SonicWall.
According to the report, the past year has seen a significant rise in cyberattacks targeting smart home products, posing a growing threat to users of these devices.
The same company noted that it prevented more than 17 million attacks on IP cameras in 2024, a figure that includes only attacks that the company was able to counter on only one type of device.
The report highlighted the growing threats targeting smart security products, with smart surveillance cameras being the main target of attackers. People rely on surveillance cameras to provide an extra layer of security for homes, but they can be exploited and turned into spy tools.
