The Secretary-General of the Arab League congratulates the Lebanese Prime Minister on his government gaining the confidence of the Parliament..

The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, congratulated Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati today, Friday, on the occasion of his government gaining the confidence of the Parliament.

In a statement, Aboul Gheit considered the confidence obtained by the new government as a "significant launch for the new era," carrying the aspirations of the Lebanese people after the "difficult phase" they endured in recent years, which "hindered the implementation of essential reforms and prevented Lebanon from regaining its stability."

He expressed his wishes for success in achieving the "important goals" outlined in the government's ministerial statement.

The Lebanese government, led by Mikati, had secured the confidence of the Parliament on Wednesday with a majority of 95 votes in favor, 12 votes against, and four abstentions.

The new government in Lebanon was formed on February 8 after weeks of negotiations, putting an end to a caretaker government period that lasted over two years in the country.
