U.S. President Donald Trump stated that talks are progressing "very well" regarding the future of the truce reached to halt the Israeli occupation's war in the Gaza Strip.
During a joint press conference with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Thursday evening at the White House, Trump expressed his belief that good solutions could be reached regarding the Gaza Strip.
Trump said, "I believe we will reach some good solutions," noting that the first phase of the truce agreement is "almost complete."
For his part, Starmer emphasized that "the two-state solution is ultimately the only way to achieve lasting peace in the region."
He pointed to one of the images that recently affected him, which was "thousands of Palestinians walking through the rubble trying to return to their communities and homes," saying, "Therefore, we must make every effort to ensure the ceasefire continues so that more prisoners can be released and much-needed aid can be delivered."
He added, "We must allow Palestinians to return and rebuild their lives, and we all must support them in doing so."
Starmer arrived in the United States on Thursday to hold his first direct meeting with Trump since the latter's re-election to the White House.
