The White House announced that U.S. President Donald Trump will host a cryptocurrency summit next Friday and deliver a speech at the event, amid growing American and global interest in this sector.
In a statement issued yesterday evening, Friday, the White House mentioned that the summit will be attended by executives and investors from the digital currency industry, as well as members of the Presidential Working Group on Digital Assets in the Trump administration.
The statement confirmed that this will be the "first" cryptocurrency summit held at the White House.
This summit coincides with Trump's efforts to position the United States as a "hub for digital financial technology innovation." He previously emphasized that he would be the "first president" to advocate for digital currencies in the country.
During the first week of his current term, Trump signed an executive order to establish the Presidential Working Group on Digital Assets, aiming to "strengthen U.S. leadership in digital finance."
According to the executive order, the working group is tasked with developing a "federal regulatory framework governing digital assets, including stablecoins, and evaluating the creation of a national strategic reserve of digital assets."
