On Thursday evening, the Kuwait Football Association announced the squad for the national team to face Iraq and Oman on March 20th and 25th, respectively, as part of the second round of Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
The Kuwait Football Association stated through its account on the social media platform "X" that the Argentine coach Juan Pizzi has selected 26 players: Saud Al-Houshan, Meshari Ghannam, Fahad Al-Hajeri, Sami Al-Sanea, Mohammed Daham, Redha Hani, Ahmed Al-Dhafiri, Youssef Nasser, Khaled Al-Rashidi, Moaz Al-Dhafiri, Khaled Ibrahim, and Eid Al-Rashidi.
The squad also includes Jassem Al-Matrouk, Mubarak Al-Faneeni, Suleiman Abdulghafour, Hassan Hamdan, Mohammed Khaled, Khaled Al-Mershed, Salman Al-Awadi, Hussein Ashkanani, Ali Khalaf, Abdulrahman Al-Fadli, Moaz Al-Asimi, Fawaz Ayed, Hamad Harbi, Fawaz Mubileesh, Salman Bormeya, and Sultan Al-Anazi.
Our national team currently occupies fifth place in the group with four points. South Korea leads the group with 14 points, followed by Iraq in second place with 11 points, Jordan in third place with nine points, Oman in fourth place with six points, while Palestine is at the bottom of the group with three points.
The top two teams in the group will qualify for the 2026 World Cup finals, which will be hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The third and fourth-placed teams will advance to the Asian playoff, which serves as a qualifier for the intercontinental playoff.
