The Saudi team Al-Nassr qualified for the quarter-finals of the AFC Champions League Elite on Monday after defeating the visiting Iranian team Esteghlal with a clean 3-0 victory in the match held in Riyadh as part of the second leg of the Round of 16 of the tournament.
Colombian player Jhon Durán scored the first and third goals for Al-Nassr in the 9th and 84th minutes, respectively, while Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo netted the second goal via a penalty kick in the 27th minute.
The match saw the expulsion of Esteghlal's Mehran Ahmadi after a violent elbow intervention against Al-Nassr's Nawaf Boushal in the second minute of first-half stoppage time.
The first-leg match between the two teams last week had ended in a goalless draw at the Azadi Stadium in Tehran.
It is worth noting that the final stages of the AFC Champions League Elite, starting from the quarter-finals, will be held in a centralized format in the Saudi city of Jeddah.
