The Ministry of Interior apprehended 11 men and women on charges of begging and 15 individuals on charges of being street vendors..

The Ministry of Interior announced on Friday the apprehension of 11 beggars of Arab and Asian nationalities while they were begging in front of mosques and markets. Additionally, 15 individuals were detained on charges of being street vendors. This action was carried out in accordance with the instructions of the Acting Prime Minister, Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Saud Al-Sabah, to combat all negative phenomena.

In a press statement, the Ministry of Interior stated that this comes as part of ongoing security efforts to eliminate the phenomenon of begging, which tends to increase during the holy month of Ramadan. The ministry added that it was found that some of those apprehended had entered the country on visit or family reunion visas, while others entered under the category of "unregulated labor" without having fixed jobs. The ministry noted that necessary legal measures have been taken against the companies that facilitated their entry in violation of the law.

The ministry clarified that anyone exploiting children for begging to appeal to people's emotions will face charges of "exploitation of minors," and violators will be deported. Those responsible for them will be held accountable, and the files of violating companies will be closed.

The Ministry of Interior urged the public to immediately report any cases of begging by using the following numbers: 25582581, 97288200, 97288211, or the emergency hotline (112), which receives reports around the clock.
