The Ministry of Education: We continue efforts to finalize the contract with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)..

The Ministry of Education confirmed today, Wednesday, that it is continuing its efforts to finalize a contract with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) to implement a comprehensive plan aimed at developing the education system in Kuwait in line with the best international standards and practices.

In a press statement, the ministry stated that this comes in implementation of the directives of the Minister of Education, Dr. Jassem Al-Budaiwi, with the aim of improving the quality of education, developing curricula, and training teachers according to the latest educational methods, which will positively reflect on the future of the educational process in the country.

The ministry explained that the anticipated cooperation with the OECD includes several key areas for developing Kuwait's education system, such as conducting benchmark studies for curriculum standards in mathematics, science, and English. The cooperation also involves supporting the ministry in designing and implementing teacher licensing tests, which will contribute to enhancing the efficiency of the educational process and raising the professional performance of teachers, while benefiting from the experiences of other countries in this field.

The ministry added that the contract with the organization includes supporting Kuwait's participation in the PISA 2029 assessment, one of the most important international evaluation tools that helps measure students' performance and compare them with their global peers. This will enable the improvement of education quality according to international standards.

The ministry highlighted the cooperation of the Ministry of Finance in completing the final procedures for finalizing the contract, which is a step that underscores the integration of efforts among state ministries to accelerate progress and achieve the aspirations of the political leadership to keep pace with global developments and enhance the quality of education.

The ministry expects that experts from the organization will visit Kuwait in the near future to begin preparations and coordination with a specialized working team from the Ministry of Education. This follows the approval of Minister Al-Budaiwi's decision to form this team, headed by the Assistant Undersecretary for General Education and including a number of educational leaders and specialists.

The ministry noted that the team includes the Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Development and Activities, the Director of Curriculum Development, the Director of Coordination and Follow-up for General Education, the Director of Public Relations and Educational Media, the General Supervisors for Mathematics, Science, and English, and the Director of Educational Affairs in the Farwaniya Educational District.

The ministry reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to enhancing the quality of education and developing curricula to achieve an educational system that keeps pace with modern challenges and provides a suitable learning environment that contributes to building an outstanding generation and developing society.

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) was established in 1961 as a forum for governments to exchange experiences and seek solutions to common economic and social problems. It includes nearly 50 member countries.

The organization works on behalf of its member governments and in cooperation with them to promote policies that improve the economic and social well-being of people around the world.
