The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, welcomed today, Thursday, the announcement by US President Donald Trump to assist Kyiv in obtaining additional air defense systems.  

In a statement to journalists before the start of the European summit, Kallas said, "I warmly welcome President Trump's announcement that the United States is seeking to provide additional air defenses for Ukraine."  

She added that she is exerting pressure on the European Union to meet Ukraine's request for two million shells worth five billion euros (5.4 billion US dollars). European Union leaders in Brussels will later today discuss the Russian-Ukrainian war and ways to enhance military cooperation.
