The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Al-Budaiwi, said on Thursday that the role of the United Arab Emirates in mediating the release of prisoners between Russia and Ukraine reflects its regional and international standing in promoting peace, security, and stability.  

In a statement, Al-Budaiwi noted that the success of the UAE's mediation embodies the country's steadfast approach to supporting peaceful solutions and promoting dialogue and peace as a means to resolve conflicts and crises. This contributes to achieving security and stability and alleviating the suffering of people affected by conflicts.  

He explained that this mediation represents a true model to be emulated in advancing the principles of peace at the international level. He added that this success enhances the GCC countries' position as a reliable partner in global efforts to promote security and peace, highlighting the depth of cooperation and coordination with the international community for a safer and more stable future for all.
