The Kuwaiti Direct Aid Society distributed 1,900 food baskets today, Thursday, to support thousands of people affected by the war in Sudan, in the states of the Red Sea, Kassala, and South Kordofan.
Ahmed Al-Sheikh, the Country Director of the Direct Aid Society in Sudan, stated that the new aid included 1,300 food baskets distributed to displaced persons in Port Sudan and Kassala state in eastern Sudan, and 600 food baskets in Deling city in South Kordofan state.
Al-Sheikh explained that this assistance will benefit more than 10,000 people, with each basket sufficient to cover the needs of a family for one month.
He added that each basket contains 10 kilograms of sugar, 10 kilograms of cornmeal, 5 kilograms of wheat flour, 4 liters of cooking oil, and other food items.
Al-Sheikh noted that the society aims to reach as many beneficiaries as possible as safe areas expand in the country, expressing his gratitude to Kuwait for its continuous humanitarian support.
The aid also included the Um Al-Qura camp for displaced persons in the Red Sea state, as part of the society's project to support displaced persons in affected areas.
This initiative is part of the Direct Aid Society's programs, which include this year's Ramadan Iftar project, as well as humanitarian interventions and the distribution of food baskets to the poor and those affected by the war.
