The Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to China, Jassim Al-Najem, affirmed today, Sunday, the country's commitment to enhancing the strategic partnership and developing bilateral cooperation with Beijing in various fields, particularly in the economic and investment sectors.

Ambassador Al-Najem told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on the occasion of a visit by a delegation from the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA) to the Chinese capital, Beijing, that there are a number of vital bilateral projects that would enhance the common interests of the two friendly countries and benefit their peoples.

He added that the visit of the Kuwaiti delegation follows the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in free zones and economic areas, which was signed between KDIPA and the Chinese Ministry of Commerce in September 2023 during the visit of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, may God protect and bless him, to China when His Highness was the Crown Prince.

He explained that the KDIPA delegation, during its current visit, will tour a number of companies and institutions in the Economic and Technological Development Zone in Beijing and meet with several officials from the Chinese Ministry of Commerce.

In this regard, he emphasized the importance of mutual visits in advancing joint cooperation, pointing to the "significant progress" in bilateral relations at various levels in recent years.

He praised the contributions of Chinese companies in enhancing economic cooperation between the two countries, noting that Kuwait has launched ambitious developmental programs and projects aimed at attracting the best global companies and expertise, including Chinese companies, to implement them.

It is worth mentioning that the State of Kuwait signed several MoUs with China in 2023, including the implementation of the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port project, cooperation in the fields of electric power, housing development, sewage treatment, free and economic zones, as well as the development of renewable energy projects and cooperation on a green, low-carbon waste recycling system.
