The Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) reported on Tuesday that Kuwait's Consumer Price Index (CPI/inflation) increased by 2.49% year-on-year at the end of February 2024.
In data provided to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), CSB stated that Kuwait's inflation rate rose by 0.22% month-on-month in February compared to January 2024.
The annual inflation increase was attributed to rising prices in major categories affecting the CPI movement, particularly food, health, clothing, and education - with the exception of transportation.
Key sectoral increases included:
Food and beverages: +5.23% year-on-year
Tobacco: +0.07%
Clothing: +4.63%
Housing services: +0.90%
Household furnishings: +3.04%
Health: +4.08%
Communications: +0.88%
Recreation/culture: +2.48%
Education: +0.71%
Restaurants/hotels: +2.03%
Miscellaneous goods/services: +5.46%
Transportation prices decreased by 1.19% year-on-year.
Excluding food and beverages, Kuwait's core inflation rose by 1.93% year-on-year and 0.15% month-on-month in February.
