UNIFIL soldiers come under Israeli warning fire..

UNIFIL Spokesperson Andrea Tenenti announced that peacekeepers with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) came under warning fire from the Israeli occupation army along the Blue Line on Saturday.

Tenenti stated in a release that UNIFIL troops were conducting a scheduled reconnaissance patrol near the border town of Rmeish when the warning shots were fired, with no casualties reported.

He emphasized this incident constitutes a violation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701, noting: 'Any action compromising the safety of UN peacekeepers during their mandated duties is unacceptable.'

The spokesperson stressed that peacekeepers' security is 'paramount,' urging all parties to respect their protection.

Background: UNIFIL forces and positions have faced repeated targeting during recent conflicts, particularly by Israeli occupation forces."
