Tunisian extra virgin olive oil claimed the global top spot Saturday at the Afro-Asian International Competition for Premium Extra Virgin Olive Oil held in Abu Dhabi. The event, organized by Sweden's World Olive Oil Competitions Group, featured participants from 16 nations.

According to Tunisia's official news agency, Tunisian EVOO won:

• 53 gold medals for quality

• 7 golds in the healthy oil category

• 4 silver medals

Final Rankings:

1. Tunisia

2. Greece

3. Spain

Other participating countries included Italy, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Croatia, Algeria, Libya, Turkey, Morocco, Jordan, Lebanon, and Oman.

Competition Details:

• Tunisia submitted 65 of the 200 total premium EVOO samples

• Judging conducted by 10 international experts from Tunisia, Italy, Spain, Greece, Morocco, Turkey, and Jordan

The Swedish organization holds four major annual EVOO competitions across Europe, Asia, and America.
