Kuwait Red Crescent Society: Kuwait, under the leadership of His Highness the Amir of the country, has continued to lead the international relief and humanitarian scene..

Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) Board Chairman Ambassador Khaled Al-Mugames stated that under the leadership of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah—may God protect and preserve him—Kuwait has continued to lead the international scene in relief and humanitarian work.

In his opening speech at the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) awareness session on Monday, Al-Mugames added that Kuwait’s relief and humanitarian role aims to uphold human dignity, improve living conditions, and provide aid to the most vulnerable, whether due to social circumstances, wars, conflicts, natural disasters, or socio-economic crises.

He praised the strong bilateral relations between KRCS and the ICRC, which have contributed to spreading international humanitarian law and humanitarian support programs. He noted that the Society has "worked to strengthen its partnership and joint efforts to improve the conditions of those affected by humanitarian crises in Syria, Yemen, Iraq, Somalia, and Palestine."

Al-Mugames commended the ICRC’s noble humanitarian efforts in supporting affected communities worldwide and its coordination with KRCS, which has resulted in a practical and strategic partnership. He highlighted KRCS’s collaboration with the ICRC in promoting awareness of international humanitarian law, addressing the needs of those affected by armed conflicts, and advancing neutral, independent, and impartial humanitarian work.

He added that the three-day session would cover key topics, including the ICRC’s role, internal regulations, foundational statutes, and volunteer policies, all of which enhance the performance of staff and volunteers.

ICRC Regional Head Stresses Importance of Strengthening Cooperation with KRCS

On his part, Mamadou Sow, Head of the ICRC Regional Mission for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, emphasized the importance of deepening cooperation with KRCS. He noted that the partnership between the two sides is built on mutual understanding to alleviate the suffering of affected people worldwide.

Sow stated that recent years have seen devastating impacts from global conflicts and climate change, affecting millions of lives. He called for continued international cooperation, saying, "Together, we can achieve far more than what we can accomplish individually."
