Kuwait's Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah stated on Monday that "the State of Kuwait is committed to providing equal employment opportunities for its citizens with disabilities and supporting them to become genuine partners in building the nation's future."
The minister made these remarks during her speech at the launch of the second career exhibition for graduates of the sixth cohort of the national initiative "Partners for Their Employment," organized by the Public Authority for Persons with Disabilities in strategic partnership with the Human Building Society for Social Development and with participation from various government and private entities.
"Today we celebrate a great success - the success of our sons' and daughters' willpower, who have demonstrated to us all that challenges cannot stand as obstacles for those with determination," Al-Huwailah added, noting that these graduates are clear examples that Kuwaiti citizens can excel and succeed regardless of circumstances.
The minister revealed a new initiative titled "Partners for Their Training" launched by the Human Building Society for Social Development and the Union of Investment Companies to create career pathways for persons with disabilities in the investment sector. The initiative aims to develop the capabilities and enhance the skills of persons with disabilities for future fieldwork. She thanked all participating and supporting organizations.
Dr. Ghaleb Al-Osaimi, Vice Chairman of the Human Building Society for Social Development, told KUNA: "Today's success celebrating 123 students from the initiative's sixth cohort wouldn't have been possible without the concerted efforts of participating organizations that have worked for years to empower and support persons with disabilities."
Al-Osaimi emphasized the Society's commitment, through joint efforts with various sectors, to graduate more outstanding youth and integrate them into the local job market since the initiative's launch in 2018 in partnership with the Disability Authority, which has graduated 258 participants. He stressed that the continuation of the "Partners for Their Employment" initiative demonstrates shared commitment to social inclusion and enhancing employment opportunities for citizens with disabilities.
He announced that the seventh cohort of the initiative will launch next September, affirming the Society's continued support for any initiative that empowers and develops the capabilities of persons with disabilities through partnerships with official supporting entities in the country.
Abdullah Al-Turkit, Chairman of the Union of Investment Companies, stated in similar remarks to KUNA: "This initiative represents a bright milestone in social work and an important station in the journey of professional empowerment and inclusion of persons with disabilities in the country." He noted that what we witness today is the fruit of partnership and cooperation among supporting entities to empower citizens with disabilities and open doors for their effective integration into the labor market according to an inspiring national and humanitarian vision.
"At the Union of Investment Companies, we take pride in being partners in these efforts," Al-Turkit added, explaining that "from this perspective, the Union has contacted member companies to introduce them to the 'Partners for Their Employment' initiative and launch the 'Partners for Their Training' initiative, inviting them to actively contribute based on the belief that their workplace integration isn't merely a legal obligation but a national duty and a civilizational indicator of society's progress."
