The Islamic Organization for Medical Sciences (IOMS) to Launch Its 17th International Conference on Genetic Fingerprinting from an Islamic Perspective the Day After Tomorrow..

The conference will be held from May 14 to 17 under the patronage of His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, may God protect him.

In a press statement on Monday, Dr. Al-Jarallah emphasized that the conference comes at a critical time to address the rapid advancements in genetics, genomic engineering, and AI applications in medicine. He highlighted its goal of establishing a balanced Islamic perspective on these ethical and scientific issues.

He noted that the conference aims to produce the "Kuwait Framework Document"—a scientific and jurisprudential reference for Islamic governments, developed in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO). This document will outline ethical guidelines for gene-editing technologies and AI applications in healthcare, aligned with Islamic values and humanitarian considerations.

Dr. Al-Jarallah added that the conference confronts the accelerating challenges of our era, prioritizing the protection of human dignity, safeguarding human biology, and ensuring harmony between scientific progress and Islamic jurisprudence.

The event will bring together elite scientists, physicians, and Islamic scholars from across the Muslim world, alongside representatives from health ministries, religious affairs departments, universities, and research centers. It will feature nine scientific and jurisprudential sessions, specialized workshops, and an exhibition on genetic technologies and fingerprinting.
