Bahrain affirms its support for the Palestinian cause and its backing of efforts to rebuild Gaza..

Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdullatif Al-Zayani stated on Thursday that his country, which chaired the previous session of the Arab Summit, has supported the Palestinian cause in international forums and backed efforts and plans aimed at reconstructing the Gaza Strip.

The remarks came during a speech delivered by Al-Zayani at the preparatory meeting of Arab foreign ministers ahead of the 34th Ordinary Arab Summit, scheduled to be held in Baghdad this coming Saturday.

Al-Zayani noted that the previous summit in Bahrain conveyed a message of peace and Arab solidarity, calling for an end to the war on Gaza, the release of prisoners, the alleviation of humanitarian suffering, and the establishment of a just and lasting peace in the Middle East.

He added that the Bahrain Summit reaffirmed the centrality of the Palestinian issue, rejected the forced displacement of Palestinians from their land, and emphasized the protection of their legitimate rights guaranteed by international law and relevant resolutions.

The minister highlighted that the Bahrain Summit adopted key resolutions to enhance Arab cooperation, integration, and solidarity, including initiatives to convene an international conference for resolving the Palestinian issue, support recognition of an independent Palestinian state, back its full membership in the United Nations, and safeguard the humanitarian rights of those affected by conflicts in the region.

Al-Zayani stressed Bahrain’s commitment to following up on the coordination and implementation of these resolutions to strengthen Arab cooperation across all levels and bolster joint efforts to address regional and international challenges.

He added that Bahrain has engaged with influential global powers to explain the Arab stance and mobilize international support. The country also chaired the Arab Ministerial Committee in support of Palestine, participated in the joint Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee’s efforts, and announced its accession to the international two-state solution coalition led by Saudi Arabia.

Furthermore, Bahrain co-chaired the Palestine Summit hosted by Egypt, during which the Egyptian-led early recovery and Gaza reconstruction plan was adopted.

Al-Zayani affirmed that Bahrain remains committed to monitoring the implementation of the resolutions it proposed at the summit and has formed a specialized national committee for follow-up, in coordination with the General Secretariat of the Arab League and relevant international organizations.

Today, Bahrain handed over the presidency of the preparatory ministerial meeting to Iraq, as the chair of the 34th Arab Summit.
