The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) group at the United Nations has strongly condemned the Israeli occupation's attacks on Iran and its nuclear facilities, warning of the grave repercussions of these assaults on regional security and stability as clear violations of international law and the UN Charter.
The statement was delivered by Counselor Faisal Al-Enezi, Deputy Permanent Representative of Kuwait to the UN, on behalf of the GCC during an emergency session of the Security Council convened to address escalating tensions between Israel and Iran.
Condemnation of Escalation
The GCC warned that continued hostilities risk catastrophic consequences and could undermine diplomatic efforts for peace.
"We are deeply concerned by the deteriorating situation, which threatens to spiral out of control and jeopardize prospects for a negotiated solution," Al-Enezi stated.
Call for Restraint & Diplomacy
Urged maximum restraint and an immediate cessation of hostilities.
Emphasized the GCC’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions and prioritize dialogue.
Support for Nuclear Negotiations
Called on the UN and international community to facilitate the resumption of U.S.-Iran nuclear talks, mediated by Oman.
Stressed the need for compliance with IAEA safeguards and the protection of nuclear facilities from military strikes.
Respect for Sovereignty & International Law
Demanded adherence to the UN Charter, principles of non-interference, and prohibition of force.
Warned against threats to maritime security, commercial shipping, and critical oil infrastructure in the Gulf.
Appeal for UN Action
Urged the Security Council to take immediate measures to contain the crisis and support diplomatic solutions.
