Malaysia and the Kyrgyz Republic expressed their concern on Wednesday over the ongoing conflict in Gaza and strongly condemned the continued Israeli aggression, calling for an immediate halt to it.
During a joint press conference with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim stated: "We demand that Israel stop this aggression, colonization, and genocide, and provide security and justice for the long-suffering people of Gaza."
He added: "They continue to suffer due to the international community’s failure to uphold the most basic principles of human rights, as well as the hypocrisy and double standards prevalent in many Western nations when it comes to the atrocities committed against the Palestinian and Gazan people."
On the regional front, Ibrahim noted that both countries share the view that Afghanistan should be reintegrated into the international community, albeit with some reservations. The Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan in August 2021 following the rapid collapse of the U.S.-backed government after the withdrawal of American and NATO forces.
Regarding recent developments in the Middle East, Ibrahim and Japarov affirmed their support for Iran’s right to respond to Israeli aggression, emphasizing that any peace settlement must be just and ensure the security of Middle Eastern and Arab nations without the continuation of Israeli hostilities.
In a separate context, Ibrahim revealed that he had received a personal letter from Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, expressing support for a ceasefire in the Middle East and urging all nations—particularly Muslim-majority countries—to back peace efforts and condemn Israel’s ongoing aggression.
Concluding his two-day official visit to Malaysia, President Japarov highlighted Kyrgyzstan’s eagerness to strengthen cooperation with Malaysia in key areas such as renewable energy, agriculture, halal industry, education, and technology. The visit also saw the signing of several memoranda of understanding and letters of intent.
