CBS News reported late Tuesday:
White House Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly confirmed the United States has suspended certain weapons shipments to ally Ukraine, which has been at war with Russia since February 2022.
In a statement obtained by the American network, Kelly said:
"This decision prioritizes America's interests following a Pentagon review of military support we provide to nations worldwide."
She added pointedly:
"The might of U.S. armed forces remains unquestionable - just ask Iran," referencing last month's U.S. strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities.
Context:
The U.S. has provided Ukraine with tens of billions in military aid since the war began
American support momentum has waned since President Trump's return to office and his peace efforts
This marks the first official confirmation of weapons shipment suspensions
