On Tuesday, Chelsea FC of England secured their place in the FIFA Club World Cup final after a convincing 2-0 victory over Brazil’s Fluminense in the tournament currently being held in the United States.
The English side dominated the first half at MetLife Stadium in Rutherford, New Jersey, with new signing João Pedro opening the scoring in the 18th minute with a stunning long-range strike—one of the best goals of the tournament.
Fluminense tried to respond but wasted several chances, while Chelsea relied on quick counterattacks that nearly produced more goals before halftime.
The Blues continued their strong performance in the second half, doubling their lead in the 56th minute through Pedro, who fired a brilliant shot from inside the box to seal the win.
Chelsea will now face the winner of Wednesday’s second semifinal between Paris Saint-Germain (France) and Real Madrid (Spain) in the final this Sunday.
