The Nintendo Switch 2 dominated Japan's console market, breaking records with incredible sales that dazzled the entire gaming industry.

According to Famitsu data, quoted by Yomiuri Shimbun newspaper, Nintendo sold a staggering 1,538,260 units in its first month of launch, making it the fastest-selling gaming console in Japan's history since records began in 1996.

For comparison, the Switch 2 outperformed the Game Boy Advance, which sold 1,367,433 units in its first month in 2001, and the PlayStation 2, which sold 1,134,862 units in 2000.

Dr. Serkan Tutu of Kantan Games noted that these figures do not include sales made through the official My Nintendo Store, which means that the real number may be much higher.

The launch of the Switch 2 has created a real cultural phenomenon in Japan, as Nintendo has continued to strengthen its grip on the Japanese market. The first-generation Switch sold 556,633 units in its first month of 2017, meaning the next-generation is generating sales three times faster.
